The Digital Business Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Makassar State University (UNM), held a Visiting Lecture on Monday, November 18, 2024. The event carried the theme "Web3 Ecosystem: Blockchain Technology and Prospectus" and was conducted in a hybrid format at the Pinisi, 2nd Floor, Vid.Con. ICT UNM Makassar.

The visiting lecture featured two speakers: Vincent Kersuzan, Head of Ecosystem at Warden Protocol, and Abdulatif Remmo, Co-founder of kopi.dotmoney. The event was also supported through collaboration with LOO, sipalingtesnet, and nodo.

Key Takeaways from the Speakers

In his presentation, Vincent Kersuzan explained that the Web3 ecosystem offers potential by introducing decentralization, transparency, and security. However, he also emphasized that Web3 is not intended to replace Web2, but rather to complement it and create a more open and decentralized ecosystem.

He stressed that Web3's main strength lies in its community-based approach. "The active contribution and collaboration of community members worldwide serve as both the support system and the main driving force in the Web3 ecosystem," he stated.

Meanwhile, Abdulatif Remmo outlined several benefits of the Web3 ecosystem, including the potential to create a more decentralized system. He also recommended several professional online courses that participants could take to learn more about the Web3 ecosystem, including Blockchain Council, Cryptozombies, and MetaSchool.

Program Goals and Future Collaboration

Achmad Shabir (Abe), a validator and brand ambassador for Massa Coin and Warden, moderated the event seamlessly.

The Head of the Study Program, Syamsu Alam, acted as the opener, elaborating on the discussion theme. He expressed hope that the event would be an opportunity for participants, especially students and academics, to gain a deeper understanding of blockchain technology and the ever-evolving Web3 ecosystem.

He added that the activity also opens up opportunities for collaboration with communities and developers in the field of Blockchain-based decentralized finance. Furthermore, this event provides support for the development of teaching materials for the Cryptocurrency, CBDC, and Blockchain Economy courses within the UNM Digital Business study program.
