The talented student from the Digital Business Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Makassar State University (UNM), Maura Sabrina Taufiq, has achieved a brilliant accomplishment by winning 3rd Place in the Voice Over Challenge.

The competition, organized by Ciputra University Makassar, required participants to perform a voice-over using a video provided by the committee, with a self-written narration that was as creative as possible. The total number of participants in this Voice Over Challenge reached 50, consisting of junior and senior high school students, university students from various institutions across Indonesia, and the general public. Despite the stiff competition, Maura successfully proved her competence by achieving victory despite certain limitations.

A Surprising Victory

"Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), I cannot stop expressing gratitude for the nth time. How could I not? I was genuinely surprised by the announcement last Thursday, June 13, 2024. Hadza min fadhli rabbi (This is by the grace of my Lord). From the start, I entered this competition just on a whim. 'Just try it, who knows, maybe you'll win,' I told myself," Maura recounted.

She admitted that she had no prior professional experience: "Frankly, I had no experience in the field of voice-over whatsoever. I had only experimented with making content using my voice, and it turned out many people said my voice was good and had character. Armed only with that small content-making experience, I dared myself to try. 'It's just for fun, I didn't expect much,' I told myself again. The thing is, sometimes we genuinely hope to win in a competition. But this was different! I had no confidence in winning 3rd place."

Encouraging Others: Embrace Your Uniqueness

Maura's journey was also marked by challenges in resources.

"This is the first voice-over competition I've ever entered. I didn't even have proper recording equipment, so the approximately 30-minute recording process used only makeshift tools. So, for those of you who feel embarrassed to create voice-over works because of a lisp, please don't see it as a flaw; instead, embrace it as your unique characteristic! Keep creating!!!" Maura passionately expressed.

She concluded by sharing her gratitude: "Finally, reaching this point is not just because of me, but also because of the support and prayers from my parents, family, lecturers, and friends. Thank you all so much!!"

Limitations are not an obstacle to achieving victory. This achievement is certainly not just a personal accomplishment for Maura but also a source of pride for the Digital Business Study Program. Maura's success demonstrates extraordinary dedication and talent in the world of broadcasting and audio production.
